Navy changes to Yellow

Navy Team,

Hey, just checking in to let you know we have a new group of students for this upcoming workshop. Gerd, Guy and I are teamed up again, but we've been changed to Yellow. Big Yellow! I'm going to ask the new students to start a blog, once I have that, I'll post the URL and maybe some of you could make comments, give advice.

Hope everyone is doing well. Are any of you going to be in Perpignan this year? Let me know.

Cheers,
David

O....sweet sleep

I don't know if anyone will ever look at this again but I wanted to tell everyone THANK YOU. Meeting you was a pleasure and the whole experience is one I will not soon forget (Gerd crowd surfing with his camera is forever etched in my mind). I can't believe it is physically possible to push your body that far. I hope you all are catching up in the sleep department, I slept on a cement bench the following night and still managed 10 hours. It was a joy to be on the same team as all of you and I would have to say that we seriously blessed to have Gerd, David, and Guy, as our leaders. I wish the best to all of you in whatever photography endeavors you pursue. Please keep in touch and keep me posted. Thank you again.

GOOD LIGHT AND GOOD NIGHT

Sleep now!

Hi Everybody,

Sorry to get into the mix so late. I just got back to LA from Russia on Monday night and, after not having seen a bed for 48 hours, I had to get some rest before turning around and heading east tomorrow morning to face the storm at the barn. When out in the field I immerse myself completely in whatever I'm shooting and try to avoid dealing with anything unrelated to the assignment. Therefore, I left all the prep work for David and Guy - thanks to both of you.

I am very exited to be back at the workshop after 17 years and I really look forward to meeting you all. My advice:
Better get some rest now...

Cheers,
Gerd

One week to go...

Navy Team:

I hope everyone is getting psyched for next week.

I have been on the phone with Gerd Ludwig, your team captain, and he is really looking forward to this. He's been on assignment for the Geographic in Russia and will just be getting back to the states to join us for the EAW. If you do not know Gerd's work, check out his website at http://www.gerdludwig.com/

Guy is (or just was) up in NY scouting out potential assignments for everyone. More on that when we gather next Friday.

Last year was my first time at EAW and I was not prepared for the shear intensity and long hours that this requires. (Of course, I'm an old fart and staying up to 2 am looking at photos was something I haven't done since, well gee, I guess it was a few weeks ago. But never three nights in a row!) My advice is to get plenty of rest and, if you are so inclined, exercise so you are at the top of your game. Then you can enjoy the moments when you get some down time to mingle (rather than sleep under trees, like I was always sneaking off to do).

See you at the Barn.

Go Navy!

Cheers,
David
